Far away from any mainstream, KulturManufaktur creates handmade. With the label of the same name KulturManufaktur, the KulturKaufhaus launches its own record label.

Part of the label universe is the extraordinary series Edition DUR. 

The series works specifically with artists whose music is experimental and independent and does not fit into the classic pigeonholes. Edition DUR is simply about exciting and creative music in limited editions on vinyl.

SOMA is an album about the side effects of Muzak. The sound of Muzak could help us concentrate, meditate, fall asleep and calm our digitally overstimulated nerves, but like most quick fixes, it comes at a price.  

SOMA is named after the drug in Aldous Huxley's novel Brave New World. SOMA provides the inhabitants of Huxley's dystopian society with a sense of well-being and calm, but it also deprives them of critical thinking.

Lotte Lenya - as if from a bygone era

The artist Lotte Lenya sings works by Bertold Brecht and her husband Kurt Weil. In addition to pieces from the collaboration between Weill and Brecht (Die Dreigroschenoper, Mahagonny, Happy End and Berliner Requiem), the album also includes two pieces from the stage play Der Silbersee, based on texts by Georg Kaiser.

The legendary Hamburg evening of 1955 has been remastered by Norman Nietzsche (Calyx Mastering) and the long out-of-print original recordings are heard in a remastered sound in historical mono.

The third work of the Edition DUR label is limited to 500 copies.

Paul Frick (Brandt, Brauer, Frick; Tangerine Dream) with an intoxicating work in the classical discipline of new music, interpreted by Frankfurt's Ensemble Modern, who are among the world's Champions League of contemporary music interpreters.
