Product description

A unique approach to sensorless control and regulator design ofelectric drivesBased on the author's vast industry experience and collaborativeworks with other industries, Control of Electric Machine DriveSystems is packed with tested, implemented, and verified ideasthat engineers can apply to everyday problems in the field.Originally published in Korean as a textbook, this highly practicalupdated version features the latest information on the control ofelectric machines and apparatus, as well as a new chapter onsensorless control of AC machines, a topic not covered in any otherpublication. The book begins by explaining the features of the electric drivesystem and trends of development in related technologies, as wellas the basic structure and operation principles of the electricmachine. It also addresses steady state characteristics and controlof the machines and the transformation of physical variables of ACmachines using reference frame theory in order to provide a properfoundation for the material. The heart of the book reviews several control algorithms ofelectric machines and power converters, explaining active dampingand how to regulate current, speed, and position in a feedbackmanner. Seung-Ki Sul introduces tricks to enhance the controlperformance of the electric machines, and the algorithm to detectthe phase angle of an AC source and to control DC link voltages ofpower converters. Topics also covered are:* Vector control* Control algorithms for position/speed sensorless drive of ACmachines* Methods for identifying the parameters of electric machines andpower converters* The matrix algebra to model a three-phase AC machine in d-q-naxesEvery chapter features exercise problems drawn from actualindustry experience. The book also includes more than 300 figuresand offers access to an FTP site, which provides MATLAB programsfor selected problems. The book's practicality and realworldrelatability make it an invaluable resource for professionals andengineers involved in the research and development of electricmachine drive business, industrial drive designers, and seniorundergraduate and graduate students. To obtain instructor materials please send an email to href="mailto:pressbooks@ieee.org">pressbooks@ieee.orgTo visit this book's FTP site to downloadMATLAB codes, please click on this link: href="ftp://ftp.wiley.com/public/sci_tech_med/electric_machine/">ftp://ftp.wiley.com/public/sci_tech_med/electric_machine/MATLAB codes are also downloadable from Wiley Booksupport Siteat href="http://booksupport.wiley.com">http://booksupport.wiley.com
