Schlegel, PhD, received the Dipl El Ing ETH degree from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Zurich, in 1984, and the MS and doctorate degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame, South Bend, Indiana, in 1986 and 1989, respectively. Currently, he is iCORE Professor of Digital Communications at the University of Alberta, Canada.
