L.A.B’s groove blends an eclectic, catchy and laidback mix of reggae, pop, rock, soul and funk with
electronic influences, all combining to create a sound entirely their own. L.A.B, featuring former
members of the bands Kora and Katchafire, have become a mainstay in the New Zealand music
scene. Now L.A.B return with their new album, aptly titled “VI”, the latest addition to their catalogue.
After recording and releasing their first 5 albums in a 5 year span, the 5 musicians have recorded the
new songs with frequent collaborator Lee Prebble at Wellington’s Surgery Studios after an almost
18-month period of writing, tweaking and finessing their strongest album to date. The 11 new songs
incorporate all aspects of the band’s unique sound; the album combines (roots) reggae with soul, funk,
rock and pop.
