Produktbeschreibung

Karl Marx's 'Capital' is a groundbreaking analysis of capitalism, focusing on the exploitation of the working class by the bourgeoisie. Marx's writing style is dense and scholarly, filled with economic theory and historical context. The book delves into the labor theory of value, surplus value, and the contradictions inherent in capitalist societies. 'Capital' is a seminal work that continues to influence political and economic thought to this day. Karl Marx, a German philosopher and economist, was deeply concerned with social inequality and the plight of the working class. His revolutionary ideas laid the groundwork for the socialist and communist movements. 'Capital' reflects Marx's dedication to exposing the injustices of capitalism and advocating for a more equitable society. I recommend 'Capital' to readers interested in understanding the roots of capitalist exploitation and the critical analysis of economic systems. Marx's keen insights and provocatively argued points make this book essential reading for anyone seeking a deeper understanding of social and economic structures.

This book has had something of a miraculous resurrection. A few months ago, it looked like it could well be pulped and its author sued for libel after one of his subjects took offence at a less than flattering portrait. British libel laws are such that a writer facing an oligarch in court is not felt to stand much of a chance and there was a strong feeling in the publishing world that Tom Burgis would be required to cough up a considerable sum of cash. For once however, the British courts sided with the little guy and dismissed the case, allowing this excellent book to continue its life out in the wild. Although technical and at times a bit opaque on financial detail, it is an extremely well put together account of how dodgy money (very often channelled through London) can be moved around the world and continuing enriching both its very questionable owners and their willing accessories.

Karl Marx (1818-1883) was a German philosopher, economist, historian, sociologist, political theorist, journalist, and revolutionary socialist. He is best known for his critical analysis of capitalism and his theory of historical materialism, a methodological approach to the study of society, economics, and history. Marx's most notable work, 'Capital: Critique of Political Economy' (Das Kapital), delves into the inner workings of the capitalist system, the dynamics of surplus value, and the labor theory of value. This magnum opus, although unfinished, is widely considered one of the most significant theoretical foundations for modern social thought and continues to influence economic and political theories to this day. Marx's literary style is characterized by its rigor, depth of analysis, and penetrating insight into societal structures. Additionally, his writing is dense with theoretical concepts that have sparked extensive discourse and debate among scholars and activists alike. Books such as 'The Communist Manifesto,' which he co-authored with Friedrich Engels, and 'Capital' have had a monumental impact on the understanding of the socio-economic forces that shape the modern world. Marx's ideas have played a central role in the development of social science and have had a profound effect on various social movements, especially in the shaping of socialist and communist philosophies worldwide.
